TOA - '' Tridant of Atua'' This game has been a side project that hasn't been touched since I moved to Australia. My creative resources have been used up sparingly at work. https://www.facebook.com/manatoagames . A project I'm happy to use in order to upskill and learn more about games and the process to creating them.

2019 Comeback yearI haven't played american football since I was 18/19 I'm now 32 and last year I took the field. I not only took the field but I also helped the team in general. I rebranded the team and helped lift them up. From 15 or so players to 52 all paid fee's, designed their uniforms had them produced, designed and produced apparel for the team to fundraise. I played every game and every snap at Tackle & Guard and one game at Defensive Tackle (with a strip sack might I add).
This is my favourite sport. Dream is to go watch a live game and my team is Philadelphia Eagles. TOA Maui & the Soul Reaper Finally I have been able to summarize all my ideas and channel it into this one. A game following the story line of Maui. The game page has around 200+ likes only after under 1 month. I've managed to block out all the lords and still working on one for each faction. From here I think I will enter a Kickstarter to fund the artists who can help make this project come to life. Weta Digital - Layout Technical Director So I have been at Weta Digital for roughly a year now. Its been great, challenging and exhausting at the same time. I can't see myself doing anything else, its rewarding and I'm passionate about my role.
So far I've only worked on: - Mortal Engines - Maze Runner Death cure - Avatar 2 - Game of Thrones Season 8
So this week I went through with students match moving techniques and lighting for live integration using hold outs. This is the match moving and layout of the scene prepping for Animation.
Generated 3D Mesh for asset integration. Simulated nCloth Marquee objects and textures inside of Substance Painter. Animation is the next step this week. This little guy was originally created for a short film I was going to make called "Jack & Daniel" I thought since students are now on assignment it would be a perfect time to do some Look Development practice. This is just a work in progress but I plan to get the eyes right and experiment with the xGen hair system in renderman.
So this months adventures have taken me through into Realflow fluid simulations. To teach this I decided I will create a mini TVC little Magnum icecream ad to get the chocolate on it. Only to remind myself how much I don't enjoy dynamic simulations. Here is a wip of the materials / textures for the shot and working on the simulations inside of realflow as we speak.
So because I had the time and needed the practice for some upcoming workshops with my students. I decided as a fan of Disney and Pixar films I would put together these characters. The idea just being given the chance to practice rendering for a full CG Production. The chosen renderer here is Renderman and primarily using the PxrDisney Shader. The Rigs & Animation were done by me where as the modeling was created by Michael Taua and myself. I still have a little bit left to do with the Baymax Animation but will show what all the rigs look like as well.
We did it
This weekend we went to New Plymouth and 'Papa Taniwha' took away the award for 'best animated short' through Tropfest NZ 2016. An amazing event to represent the students. Next years goal is to win 5 of them.
Egg was Directed by Steven McNicholl and Animation was supervised by Miles Wilson during their last year of study at Yoobee School of Design. Here I help the students manage their production as Executive Producer and together the class got their short film an award at Tropfest 2015 for best animated film. The students did a great job and we were all very proud of their accomplishment. Below is a link to the winning short film.
